        RIVERSIDE, Calif. (UPI) -- Officials said Wednesday a 14-year-old boy
``mooning'' a freight train was struck by the locomotive, suffering
minor injuries.
        A spokeswoman for Riverside General Hospital-University Medical
Center said Manuel Moreno, 14, was treated and released.
        Moreno and two other boys were walking along the Atchison, Topeka and
Santa Fe tracks in downtown Riverside shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday.
        As the engineer sounded the horn of the 7,800-ton, two of the boys
jumped clear of the tracks.
        Railroad spokesman Mike Martin said the third boy, Moreno, ``pulled
his pants down and 'mooned' the train.'' The engineer was unable to stop
the train, which struck the boy.
        The four locomotives and 81 cars were traveling 38 mph when the train
hit the boy. No one else was injured.
        The train was on a run from Barstow to San Diego carrying bulk grain,
cement, lumber, plastic pellets, beer, newsprint, automobiles and
liquified natural gas. It was delayed 37 minutes before continuing to
San Diego.
