Step one is to use your web browser to look at the status of the modem. If you know the IP address of the modem, then http directly to that address. For these instructions , I will use 10.148.1.300 (This is a fake address for illustration purposes. No octet can be over 255). In this case, you would type http://10.148.1.300. If you do not know the IP address then try http://192.168.0.1 . If that does not bring up a valid page, then make sure you are connected directly to the modem (no router) and that you machine is set up to use DHCP.
Once you get in, you’ll get a screen like this one:

Notice there is a menu with four choices across the top. Three of those choices are represented with a blue ball. The first choice is represented with a green ball if the modem has established connectivity, or a red ball if there is a definite problem.
